Qualifications & Affiliations
Laura is an AHPRA registered Provisional Psychologist and is completing a Master of Clinical Psychology. She also holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), and an Advanced Diploma of Counselling. Laura is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
Laura’s Approach
Laura’s practice is informed by cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Psychodynamic therapy. Using a client centered and collaborative approach, Laura focuses on the unique needs and goals of each individual client. She views therapy as an opportunity to increase self-acceptance and self-worth, assist with personal growth and self-expression and cultivate a purposeful life. Laura aims to create warm, non-judgemental, trauma sensitive sessions to explore and support a diversity of challenges such as:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Insomnia
- Obsessive compulsive disorder
- Post-partum anxiety and depression
Work History & Special Interests
Laura has experience working with a diversity of people and mental health challenges including supporting both adults and adolescents with psychotherapy, and children with cognitive assessments. She has completed training in cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia and facilitated an insomnia clinic to support people struggling with sleep issues. Previously, Laura has worked with people with substance misuse challenges and is passionate about the possibility of recovery from addictions. In addition, Laura has interests in complex trauma and how it manifests in physical symptoms and health complaints, and the importance of supporting people in the post-partum period and early parenting years.
